CESAME Learning Facilitator

Do you want to make a fundamental difference in the lives of children? Have you thought about becoming an educator? Do you want to earn money while learning if a future career in education is right for you? If so, consider enrolling as a CESAME Learning Facilitator in Mathematics and Science. 

A CESAME Learning Facilitator experience is:

  • a paid, early-field experience offered each quarter for undergrad students who seek a practical, hands-on experience to "try on teaching" while tutoring in schools throughout the community*.
    • start at $18/hour
    • work 2-10 hours/week
  • offers a unique opportunity to tutor in an off-campus, structured environment in tandem with weekly seminar discussions focused on effective teaching strategies that build a community of respect and rapport for both the tutor and tutee. 
  • participants apply effective teaching strategies to support students in a variety of subject matters (i.e. math, science, language arts, social studies) in elementary to high school settings.

Makers out of School Time (MOST) - Facilitate maker projects in a small group, afterschool programs

Teaching Assistants in Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) - Tutor students in elementary, middle and high school

SciTrek - Facilitate elementary science lessons during school time

What is M.O.S.T. ?

Makers teach STEM-focused modules to students in an after school program at a local school. M.O.S.T. offers a unique opportunity to try teaching in an off-campus, structured environment in tandem with weekly seminar discussions focused on effective teaching strategies.

 

What is TeAMS?

TeAMS assistants tutor students at local elementary, middle, or high schools. TeAMS participants apply effective teaching strategies to support students in a variety of subject matters (i.e. math, science, language arts, social studies) in elementary to high school settings.

 

What is SciTrek?

Inspire wonder and curiosity through engaging science experiences as a SciTrek Learning Facilitator. Learning Facilitators plan, prepare, and present science lessons in local elementary classrooms. Lessons take place twice per week for roughly three weeks. The facilitators reflect on the implementation, and then the cycle is repeated with a new lesson in the same class or the same lesson in a different class.
