About the CSU STEM VISTA Program

The CSU STEM VISTA program builds the capacity of VISTA members and host site supervisors as leaders to foster cultural and systemic change in STEM at the college/department/program and institutional level. AmeriCorps*VISTA members serve on CSU campuses full-time for one year (July 2017 – July 2018) focused on STEM student success efforts.

 

About Cal Poly's Involvement

Since Summer 2014, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has hosted seven yearlong VISTA placements and twenty 10-week Summer Associates. The CSU STEM VISTA program at Cal Poly has supported a variety of initiatives (e.g. diversity initiatives in the College of Engineering, undocumented student support, and undergraduate research experiences) to promote equitable STEM practices and culture, and has supported efforts that span across programs, departments, colleges, and the university as a whole.
