$15,000 Scholarship for Future Teachers

Are you a future science or engineering teacher?

Noyce FIRST is a new $15,000 scholarship program at Cal Poly for future science and engineering teachers. FIRST stands for "Fostering Integrated Responsive Science Teaching." Noyce Scholars will become science or engineering teachers who can cross disciplinary boundaries and create engaging, inclusive classrooms.

Open to current juniors and senior science/engineering majors who are future teachers. Due to federal funding limitations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident. 

Scholarship support in 2020-21 can be used to complete your undergraduate degree or teaching credential. A second year of scholarship support may be available.

MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, located in Santa Barbara, CA, is seeking motivated, creative people for a yearlong apprenticeship in informal science education. This program includes hands-on experience through a paid internship as a member of MOXI’s floor staff team, four quarters of instruction in informal science education through UC Santa Barbara, and opportunities to interact with a diverse group of learners of all ages in a variety of settings on the museum floor, Interactive Media Theater, Exploration Lab, Innovation Workshop makerspace, and offsite at local schools, youth organizations, and public events. Apprentices also learn to develop facilitation strategies and NGSS-aligned curriculum, conduct program evaluations, train volunteer floor staff, and generate creative, innovative ideas for informal science learning.
